DCE Abubakar Sedik donates GH₵10,000 to support Betoum fire victim

The District Chief Executive for Ahafo Ano South West District, Abubakar Sedik, has donated GH₵10,000 to support a victim of a recent fire outbreak at Betoum.

The fire incident, which occurred on Wednesday, March 10, 2026, destroyed a room in a residential building, leaving the occupant, Kweku Gyedu, and his family devastated after all their belongings were completely burnt.

Presenting the donation, Hon. Sedik expressed sympathy to the victim and assured him of his continued concern for residents affected by disasters within the district. He explained that the financial support was meant to help Mr. Gyedu begin rebuilding the burnt room and restore hope to the family following the loss.

In addition to the financial assistance, the DCE has also arranged temporary accommodation for the victim and his family until the damaged building is reconstructed and completed.

Receiving the support, Mr. Gyedu expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Sedik for the timely intervention, stating that the assistance would go a long way in helping him rebuild his life.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the Betoum Electoral Area, Paul Kwesi Amegboe, appealed to the District Chief Executive and the District Assembly to facilitate the deployment of personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service to Mankranso to occupy the completed fire station in the area.

According to him, the presence of fire officers in the community would ensure a quick response to fire outbreaks and help safeguard lives and property across the district.

Residents who gathered at the scene commended Hon. Sedik for his swift intervention and continuous support to people facing difficult situations within the district.
