The Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, has presented the Business Statement for the seventh week ending Thursday, July 2, 2026, outlining the legislative agenda scheduled for consideration by Parliament in the coming week.
Presenting the statement on the floor of the House, Hon. Ayariga informed Members that four sector ministers are expected to appear before Parliament to respond to a total of 22 questions filed by Members of Parliament as part of the House’s oversight responsibility.

According to the Majority Leader, the House will also devote time to the consideration of several important legislative and parliamentary business, including Bills at various stages, committee reports, motions, resolutions, and statements from Members on issues of national concern.
Hon. Ayariga further disclosed that there are currently 300 referrals pending before 27 parliamentary committees. He urged committee chairpersons and members to expedite work on the referrals to enable the timely submission of reports for debate and consideration by the House, stressing the need to improve the efficiency of Parliament’s legislative processes.

He noted that the backlog of referrals requires urgent attention to ensure that parliamentary business progresses without unnecessary delays and that key legislative matters receive prompt consideration.
The Majority Leader also reminded Members that although Republic Day falls on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the statutory public holiday will instead be observed on Friday, July 3, 2026, in accordance with the provisions of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2025 (Act 1142).
The Business Statement provides Parliament with a roadmap for the week’s proceedings and is intended to ensure the orderly conduct of legislative business while enabling Members to adequately prepare for debates, committee work, and ministerial engagements.
