Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has criticised the NDC government, accusing it of failing to deliver meaningful policy interventions for Ghana’s private sector and agriculture.
Speaking to the media, Afenyo-Markin argued that the government has not introduced any significant policies to support businesses, while electricity tariffs continue to rise, placing additional pressure on households and enterprises.
He further claimed that the government has neglected the agricultural sector, saying farmers have not received the support they were promised. According to him, cocoa farmers were assured of better producer prices, but instead have seen reductions. He also expressed concern that imported rice is now cheaper than locally produced rice and maize, a situation he says is hurting local farmers.
Afenyo-Markin also criticised the government over what he described as a lack of progress in social infrastructure, insisting that there is little to show for its time in office.
He maintained that, in his view, the government’s performance has fallen short of its campaign promises across key sectors of the economy.
