The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has urged the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and Regional Police Commanders to strengthen professionalism, accountability and effective leadership within the Ghana Police Service.
He made the call at the Police Regional Commanders Conference held at the National Police Headquarters, where he emphasised the need for the Police Service to respond effectively to the growing expectations of the Ghanaian public.
According to the Minister, Ghanaians expect a Police Service that is professional, visible, approachable and competent, with a strong commitment to crime prevention and the protection of lives and property.
He urged police leadership to prioritise public confidence by ensuring that officers operate with integrity, fairness and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak further challenged the IGP and Regional Commanders to build a Police Service that protects the vulnerable, pursues offenders and safeguards the innocent while upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
He stressed that effective leadership and accountability at the regional level would be critical to improving policing and strengthening the relationship between the Police Service and the Ghanaian public.
The conference is expected to provide a platform for police leadership to assess operational challenges, strengthen coordination and develop strategies to enhance public safety and security across the country.
