Adansi Asokwa MP Refutes Claims on Cocoa Farmers’ Reaction to Price Reduction

The Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, Godwin Animli Dorgbazi Dorani, has strongly denied claims that he stated cocoa farmers in the constituency are happy about the recent reduction affecting the cocoa sector.

In a statement addressing the circulating reports, the MP categorically rejected the allegation, describing it as false and misleading. He emphasized that at no point—either publicly or privately—did he suggest that cocoa farmers in Adansi Asokwa were pleased with the development.

According to him, it would be both insensitive and dishonest for any responsible representative to imply that hardworking farmers would welcome a situation that directly impacts their livelihoods. He noted that he is fully aware of the economic pressures confronting cocoa farmers and would never trivialize their legitimate concerns for political convenience or expediency.

While acknowledging that the current situation may represent a temporary discomfort within broader economic adjustments, the MP stressed that this should not be misconstrued as contentment among farmers. He maintained that temporary challenges do not diminish the collective resolve to pursue sustainable and lasting improvements in the cocoa sector.

The lawmaker reiterated his long-standing position that cocoa farmers deserve fair compensation, predictable policy direction, and reforms that strengthen their long-term welfare. He also expressed confidence that ongoing policy recalibrations under President John Dramani Mahama are intended to restore stability and create enduring prosperity for farmers in the near future.

Describing attempts to distort his remarks as deliberate efforts to mislead the public and create unnecessary controversy, the MP affirmed his unwavering support for cocoa farmers in Adansi Asokwa. He pledged to continue advocating—without fear or favour—for policies that protect their livelihoods and dignity.

He concluded by assuring constituents that they deserve honesty and clarity, reaffirming his steadfast commitment to serving their interests.
