The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has directed the Parliamentary Health Committee to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Charles Amissah.
According to the Speaker, the incident raises serious concerns that must be thoroughly examined to establish the facts and determine accountability. He described the death as both needless and unacceptable, stressing that such occurrences within the country’s healthcare system should never be tolerated.
Rt. Hon. Bagbin emphasized the need for urgent and decisive action, calling for strict sanctions against any individuals found culpable after the committee’s inquiry. He noted that ensuring discipline, professionalism, and adherence to proper procedures within health facilities is critical to restoring public confidence in the system.
The Speaker further assured that Parliament will not treat the matter lightly and expects the Health Committee to present its findings and recommendations promptly.
