Authorities Launch Probe into Exploitation of Ghanaian Girls, Seek International Cooperation

Authorities in Accra have strongly condemned the alleged exploitation of Ghanaian girls following the reported unlawful publication of their private images by a foreign national, describing the development as deeply troubling and wholly unacceptable.

Speaking on the matter, Mrs. Phyllis Henrichs, popularly known as Mama Africa, described the incident as a grave violation of the victims’ privacy, dignity, and fundamental human rights. She emphasized that such actions not only endanger the safety and well-being of young people but also contradict Ghana’s cultural values and the legal protections put in place to safeguard children and other vulnerable individuals from abuse and exploitation.

In response, government has launched a comprehensive investigation aimed at establishing the full facts of the case and ensuring that justice is served. Authorities have assured the public that the probe will be transparent, thorough, and handled with urgency. They also noted that collaboration with international law enforcement agencies and other relevant bodies will be pursued where necessary, particularly if the case extends beyond Ghana’s borders.

Mrs. Henrichs further underscored the need to prioritize the welfare of the victims throughout the investigative process. She indicated that steps are being considered to provide psychological, legal, and social support to those affected, while efforts are also underway to explore appropriate compensation for the harm caused.

Reaffirming its commitment, government stressed its determination to protect the dignity, safety, and rights of Ghanaian children. It warned that any individual found culpable in acts of exploitation or abuse will face the full rigours of the law, as authorities intensify measures to curb such offenses and prevent similar incidents in the future.
