The Chairman Wontumi Campaign Team has issued a strongly worded statement reaffirming its unwavering support for Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, following his recent court judgment.
In a statement signed by the Media and Communications Directorate of the campaign, the team described the development as one of the most difficult moments in Chairman Wontumi’s political journey, affecting not only him but also his family, supporters and all those who have stood by him throughout the campaign.
The campaign team stated that it fully aligns itself with the official position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), as communicated by the Party’s General Secretary, regarding the judgment. It expressed confidence in the appellate process and emphasized that the judicial process has not reached its final conclusion.
“We fully support the Party’s commitment to pursuing every lawful avenue available through the appellate process, and we remain confident that the judicial process has not reached its final conclusion,” the statement said.
The campaign highlighted Chairman Wontumi’s long-standing contribution to the NPP, noting his service as a Party Security Officer, Constituency Chairman and three-term Ashanti Regional Chairman. According to the statement, his years of leadership, sacrifice and dedication to the Party cannot be diminished by the challenges of the moment.
The team assured supporters across the country that its confidence in Chairman Wontumi remains absolute, stressing that his record of service and the lives he has impacted over the years remain significant.
To supporters who may feel disappointed by the judgment, the campaign urged them not to lose hope, describing the current situation as “not the end of the journey.” It noted that Chairman Wontumi’s legal team would take the necessary legal steps available under the law and pursue the appeal diligently and professionally.
The statement also appealed to all supporters to remain calm, peaceful and respectful of state institutions while the legal process continues. It cautioned against inflammatory statements or actions that could undermine the judicial process, emphasizing the need for discipline and maturity.
Furthermore, the campaign reiterated its commitment to the vision that inspired the movement from the beginning — building a stronger, more united and better-organized NPP that protects its grassroots and works towards future electoral victory.
“Today’s events do not diminish that vision. If anything, they strengthen our resolve to continue working for the ideals Chairman Wontumi has consistently championed throughout his political life,” the statement added.
The campaign concluded by declaring its continued loyalty to Chairman Wontumi, his family and the NPP, insisting that its faith remains unwavering despite the current adversity.
“Together, we remain steadfast. Together, we remain hopeful. Together, we remain united,” the statement concluded.
