FAUSTILOVE LAUNCHES “NKOKO NKETEKETE” PROGRAMME IN OBUASI; 200 BENEFICIARIES TARGETED

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Honourable Faustilove Appiah Kannin, has officially launched the Nkoko Nketekete Programme under the government’s Feed Ghana Programme in the Obuasi Municipality.

The initiative is expected to directly benefit 200 individuals, with the Municipality receiving a total of 10,000 broiler birds. Each beneficiary is to receive 50 birds to enable them establish or expand small-scale poultry businesses.

Speaking at a short launch ceremony held at the forecourt of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, the MCE announced that the distribution of the birds had commenced and would be completed within five days. She emphasised that the selection of beneficiaries was conducted without political considerations.
“This is a government policy intended to benefit all citizens. The selection of beneficiaries was therefore done on a non-partisan basis,” she stated.

Hon. Faustilove further disclosed that the next phase of the programme will introduce layer birds into the Municipality, encouraging beneficiaries to take full advantage of the initiative to build sustainable poultry enterprises. She noted that the success of the programme would contribute significantly to making poultry products more available and affordable within the Municipality.

The MCE expressed appreciation to the President and his government for the initiative and urged beneficiaries to justify the confidence reposed in them.
“Do not disappoint the government. Take this project seriously and make it successful,” she cautioned.

Ahead of the distribution, a one-day capacity-building workshop was organised for beneficiaries to equip them with basic poultry management skills. Officials from the Municipal Department of Agriculture also announced that Agricultural Extension Officers would be assigned across zones to provide technical support and monitor the progress of the birds to ensure the success of the programme.

The ceremony was attended by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Joyce Akosua Angmorteh, the Presiding Member of the Assembly, Hon. James Adabour, some Assembly Members, and staff of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly.
