Ghana’s Vice‑President jets to Angola for the Africa‑EU summit

Vice‑President Professor Naana Jane Opoku‑Agyemang is heading to Luanda, Angola, to stand in for President John Dramani Mahama at the 7th Africa‑European Union (AU‑EU) Summit on 24‑25 November 2025 . In a statement from the Office of the Vice President, her office says the trip underscores Ghana’s drive to deepen ties with both African and European partners as they tackle shared continental and global challenges .

During the high‑level gathering she’ll deliver Ghana’s national statement, laying out a six‑point agenda that the country is betting on for a brighter future:

  • Economic stability – keeping the macro‑economy on an even keel.
  • Job creation – turning growth into real employment opportunities.
  • Food security – ensuring that no Ghanaian goes hungry.
  • Climate action – pushing forward the green transition.
  • Peace and security – strengthening stability at home and across the region.
  • Value‑chain development – adding more local value, especially in agriculture and cocoa

“The Vice‑President will articulate Ghana’s priorities and contribute to discussions on enhancing sustainable development, fostering economic growth, and promoting peace and security across Africa and Europe,” the press release notes .

With African and European leaders converging in Angola, the summit promises a lively dialogue on climate change, trade partnerships, and regional stability—exactly the kind of platform where Ghana can make its voice heard.
