Government supports Muslim community with food donations ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr – Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim

The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, as part of efforts to support the Muslim community ahead of the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.

During the visit, the minister presented food items to the National Chief Imam and members of the Muslim community to support them during the holy month of fasting. The donation forms part of the government’s initiative to show solidarity with Muslims and assist vulnerable families as they observe Ramadan.

Speaking during the engagement, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting religious harmony and supporting faith-based communities across the country. According to him, the gesture demonstrates the government’s recognition of the important role the Muslim community plays in national development and social cohesion.

He explained that the support was facilitated through the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs as part of its mandate to strengthen collaboration between the government and religious institutions.

Addressing the media after the presentation, the minister noted that the food items were intended to ease the burden on Muslim families during the fasting period. He added that the government believes in standing with religious communities, especially during significant periods such as Ramadan, when many faithful dedicate their time to prayer, fasting, and charity.

Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim further reiterated that the government will continue to work closely with religious leaders to promote peace, unity, and mutual understanding among the diverse religious groups in the country.

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, expressed appreciation for the gesture and commended the government for remembering the Muslim community during the sacred period. He also offered prayers for peace, unity, and continued progress for the nation as Muslims prepare to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.
