Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim Launches Apprenticeship-to-Master Skills Training and Tool Kit Distribution in Kumawu

The Member of Parliament for the Kumawu Constituency, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, has officially launched an Apprenticeship-to-Master Skills Training Programme, accompanied by the distribution of tools kits and BizBox packages to over 150 apprentices across the constituency.

The initiative, which forms the first cohort of the programme, is aimed at empowering young people with practical vocational skills and equipping them with the tools necessary to transition from apprenticeship into independent master artisans. Beneficiaries drawn from various trades include carpenters, plumbers, hairdressers, shoemakers, glaziers, beauticians, and make-up artists.

Speaking at the launch, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim explained that the programme forms part of his long-term vision to combat youth unemployment while promoting skills development, entrepreneurship, and economic self-reliance within the Kumawu Constituency. He disclosed that a second cohort, expected later this year, will train an additional 300 youth, thereby expanding the programme’s impact.
According to the MP, the programme is designed not only to provide technical skills but also to create a multiplier effect, where trained apprentices will have the opportunity to mentor and train other young people in their communities. He emphasized that vocational skills are critical for employment creation and local economic growth.

During the event, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim personally presented tools and equipment to the beneficiaries, along with BizBox packages, which contain essential business startup items to support the youth in establishing and sustaining their trades. The total cost of the tools, equipment, and BizBox items is estimated at GH¢500,000.

He urged all apprentices to remain committed, disciplined, and serious about their training, reminding them that receiving tools and equipment is just the beginning. “I will personally conduct monthly monitoring visits to all the master artisans to ensure that the apprentices are learning and applying the skills effectively,” he stated.

Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim further emphasized that the initiative aims to enhance productivity, reduce unemployment, and strengthen the local economy by ensuring that beneficiaries are fully equipped to become self-reliant.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke after the event expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim for the programme, describing it as a life-changing opportunity. They pledged to make proper use of the tools and training and promised to contribute positively to the development of the Kumawu community.
