Mahama Ayariga has spoken out following the death of Charles Amissah, expressing deep concern over what he describes as growing indiscipline and systemic failures within the country’s healthcare system.
According to him, the circumstances surrounding the incident highlight troubling gaps in accountability, professionalism, and supervision in some health facilities. He stressed that hospitals are meant to be places of care and safety, and any conduct that undermines patient welfare must be addressed decisively.
Hon. Ayariga noted that repeated reports of negligence and poor staff conduct point to deeper structural challenges that require urgent reforms. He called on health authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that anyone found culpable is held accountable.
He further emphasized the need to restore public confidence in the healthcare system, urging stricter enforcement of standards, improved oversight, and a renewed commitment to discipline and patient-centered care across all medical institutions.
