A flagship agricultural intervention initiated by President John Dramani Mahama, the Nkoko Nkitinkiti (Poultry) Project, has officially been rolled out in the Asante Akyem North Municipality.
The implementation of the project is being led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Sarah Amoakoaa, through the Municipal Department of Agriculture, which has commenced the distribution of poultry inputs alongside sensitization programmes for selected beneficiaries to ensure the effective execution of the initiative.

The Nkoko Nkitinkiti Project is designed to empower citizens—particularly the youth, women, and small-scale farmers—by promoting household and community-level poultry production. The initiative aims to increase local poultry output, reduce Ghana’s dependence on imported poultry products, strengthen food and nutrition security, and create sustainable sources of income for beneficiaries.
As part of the rollout, beneficiaries are being trained in best poultry management practices, biosecurity measures, and basic record-keeping to enhance productivity and ensure the long-term success of the project.

Residents of the municipality have been encouraged to actively participate and take full advantage of the intervention, which presents a significant opportunity to improve livelihoods, stimulate local economic growth, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
