The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has cautioned its members against declaring intentions to contest internal positions outside the timelines outlined in the party’s approved electoral guidelines.
In a statement, Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Mustapha Gbande, emphasized that the party has established a detailed roadmap governing its internal elections, from branch to national levels. According to him, adherence to the timetable is critical to ensuring a fair and orderly process.
Mr. Gbande noted that the party has recently concluded a limited registration exercise for new members, alongside other key activities such as dues payments to validate membership status. These steps, he explained, are necessary to confirm members’ eligibility and good standing to participate in or contest internal elections.
He warned that any premature declaration of intent to contest positions—outside the approved schedule—could be deemed a violation of party rules. Such actions, he stressed, may serve as grounds for disqualification if proven against any aspirant, particularly at the constituency, regional, or national levels.
The NDC leadership, he added, remains committed to maintaining discipline, fairness, and unity throughout the internal electoral process, urging members to avoid actions that could create tension or undermine party cohesion.
Party members have therefore been advised to strictly comply with the guidelines and refrain from early campaigning or declarations until the appropriate time.
