REINTRODUCTION OF TOWN COUNCIL IN ATWIMA NWABIAGYA SOUTH WILL REDUCE SANITATION CHALLENGES-MCE ADMONISHED

Ahead of the forthcoming 2026, 6th March, which marks Independence Day slated for this Friday, the Municipal Chief Executive for Atwima Nwabiagya South, District Assembly staff, Health Personnel, and the Member of Parliament for Atwima Nwabiagya South, Hon.Shirley Kyei have organised a massive clean-up exercise for residents at Asenmaso to mark the celebration.

In terms of reducing sanitation risk and prevent non communicable diseases in the district, the MCE mentioned that the district has reintroduced the work of the town council to champion the sanitation menace even before the national sanitation day set by the government. Adding that the focus of the town council is to manage sanitation and ensure households and communities are well cleaned to prevent any future accidents. According to him anyone who refuses to submit to the work of the town council will be sanctioned.

According to the Municipal chief executive, sanitation is key, especially to this special celebration since it brings about unity, love and demonstrate performance done by schools in the community. Aside from cleaning Asenmaso communities, roads were properly renovated to welcome visitors, Dignitaries and traditional leaders who are invited to the parade grounds. The day is traditionally marked by national parades, ceremonial events, and reflections on the country’s democratic journey and socio-economic progress. He explained.

Hon.Osei Boamah emphasized that, aside from Nkawie Technical school, which have been banned from gatherings, all the secondary schools in the district will be present; meanwhile, the district will select some basic schools to join the parade in this independence celebration.

In terms of security, he assures his office commitment to providing adequate security personnel including the Ghana Abulance service whose service will focus on providing first aid to any unwell student.

Since the month of March is Ghana month, and a vibrant period dedicated forward honouring the country’s rich culture history, indigenous traditions, and the visionary leaders who paved the way for sovereignty, MCE advised the people of Atwima Nwabiagya South and Ghanaians to embrace the month and patronize more made in Ghana produce, wear made in Ghana produce and anything related Ghana to mark this day.

Member of Parliament for Atwima Nwabiagya South constituency, Hon.Shirley Kyei assures commitment to collaborating with the MCE and the district to develop Atwima Nwabiagya South constituency, in terms of infrastructure, healthcare, education, sanitation, and any other.

The Bible even says cleanliness is next to godliness therefore sanitation must be a call to action to all, no matter the timing. She added .
She extend appreciation to residents who showed up to support the event exercise, advising the to maintain the place clean and neat as done, indicating after 6th March celebration the exercise will continue as stipulated by government.
