President Mahama has reiterated his commitment to building a self-reliant and industrially driven Ghana, stressing that the nation’s progress must be anchored on productivity rather than empty promises. He emphasized that meaningful development will come from sustained economic activity, strong institutions, and policies that empower industries to thrive.
Speaking about his vision for the country, President Mahama underscored the need to transform Ghana into a major production hub, where factories operate at full capacity, create sustainable jobs, and contribute significantly to national revenue. According to him, the future Ghana must be one where local industries add value to raw materials before export, reducing reliance on imports and strengthening the country’s trade position within Africa and beyond.
He noted that productivity is the engine of economic growth, and without it, long-term prosperity cannot be achieved. The President highlighted the importance of investing in infrastructure, reliable energy supply, modern technology, and skills development to support manufacturing and industrial expansion. He added that empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) would also play a critical role in accelerating economic transformation.
President Mahama further explained that Ghana’s strategic position in West Africa provides an opportunity to become a leading exporter under continental trade arrangements, supplying goods not only to neighboring countries but also to international markets. He stressed that achieving this goal requires collaboration between government, the private sector, and the workforce.
