U.S. signals readiness to strike Iran’s “crown jewel” amid rising tensions

U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran, declaring that the United States is “locked and loaded” and fully prepared to strike the country’s most critical assets if necessary.

Speaking amid escalating tensions, Trump singled out Kharg Island—often described as Iran’s “crown jewel” due to its central role in the nation’s oil exports—as a potential target. He stressed that while recent U.S. strikes focused on military installations, Washington has deliberately held back from hitting key oil infrastructure.

However, the president made it clear that restraint could quickly change.

“If we want, we can take it out,” Trump warned, signaling that the U.S. could escalate its military response if Iran continues actions such as disrupting shipping routes or targeting allied interests.

Recent operations have already seen U.S. forces carry out large-scale airstrikes on the island, destroying dozens of military sites while leaving oil facilities intact—for now.

Kharg Island is responsible for the majority of Iran’s oil exports, making it a vital economic lifeline. Analysts say any direct strike on its energy infrastructure could deal a devastating blow to Iran’s economy and further destabilize global oil markets.

The warning comes as the ongoing conflict intensifies, with both sides signaling readiness for further escalation. Trump has maintained that the U.S. military remains prepared for any scenario, emphasizing that future actions will depend on Iran’s next moves.
