The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi East, Hon William Kofi Adzowu, has cut the sod for the construction of a modern Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound at Ayease. This groundbreaking ceremony marks a significant milestone in addressing the long-standing challenges faced by the people of Ayease and surrounding communities in accessing quality healthcare services.

The CHPS compound, which will include nurses’ quarters, is being financed through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) and is expected to be completed by June 2026. Hon Adzowu emphasized that the facility has been strategically located at Ayease to cater to the healthcare needs of the surrounding communities, thereby enhancing the overall quality of health delivery in the area.
According to Hon Adzowu, the residents of Ayease and neighboring communities have been facing significant difficulties in accessing healthcare services due to the long distances they had to travel to reach medical facilities. The construction of the CHPS compound is expected to alleviate these challenges and provide much-needed relief to the people, saving them from the stress and hardship associated with seeking medical care far from home.

Nana Oduro Gyekye, the Chief of Ayease, expressed his gratitude to the MCE for bringing this much-needed facility to his community. He appealed to the assembly to consider employing local youth in the construction process and to address the deplorable state of their roads, which has long been a concern for residents.

The construction of the CHPS compound is a testament to the government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and services in rural and underserved areas, aligning with broader efforts to enhance the overall well-being of Ghanaians
