As part of the government’s efforts to eliminate and combat illegal mining in the country, the District Chief Executive for Atwima Mponua has assured a commitment to collaborating with Chiefs and opinion leaders to eradicate illegal mining in Atwima Mponua District.
According to him, illegal activities pose a dangerous threat to water bodies, forest reserves, and land degradation.
For growth and development Atwima Mponua district over the period has proven its growing reputation as a powerhouse of youth football talent as the Zone 6 Under-17 Inter-district soccer competition kicked off last Saturday at the Sports complex at Atwima Mponua The match that involved all participating districts delivered a thrilling action,raw skill, and unforgettable moments.

The tournament formed part of the Ashanti Regional Youth Football Development Project,an initiative spearheaded by the Ashanti Regional Minister,Hon. Dr Frank Amoakohene,aimed at identifying and nurturing young football talents across the region.
The District Chief Executive, Hon Ibrahim Issahak, in an interview commended the Ashanti Regional Minister for birthing such a brilliant initiative, which has become a beacon of hope for the Under-17 footballers. He therefore encouraged the footballers to lift their game in the upcoming fixtures and push for victory.
He also noted that the district has helped in clearing the refuse damp at Nhyinahin, distributed the nkoko nkitinkiti as well and also pledged to mutigate and eliminate illegal mining in the Atwima Mponua district. He also noted that the district will help put up a clinic and CHPS compound at Nwansamre and Mpasatia and also put up schools as well.
In addition the DCE noted that the district has helped the vulnerable and less-privileged through the common fund and also pleaded with stakeholders, chiefs and assembly members to help come together to fight galamsey in the district.
