A new chapter in trade and finance education begins with Professor Adenutsi at the Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference

The Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC) has officially outdoored Professor Deodat E. Adenutsi as its Director of Education (Africa), reinforcing the organization’s commitment to research-driven dialogue, capacity building, and policy-oriented education in international trade, finance, and economics.

The appointment strengthens GITFiC’s strategic engagement within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), a continental initiative the organization has actively championed since 2019.

Professor Adenutsi brings over 25 years of distinguished experience in academia, research, and higher education leadership. His expertise spans economics, development finance, policy management, and multi-donor programme management. A seasoned trainer and consultant, he has led capacity-building programmes for governments, financial institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises, and civil society organizations across Africa.

He holds a PhD in Development Finance from the University of Stellenbosch and previously served as a Visiting Scholar at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC. Professor Adenutsi has published extensively in internationally indexed journals, with research focusing on digital finance, international economics and finance, corporate governance, financial development, and macroeconomic policy. He is widely recognized for his scholarly contributions and his dedication to mentoring emerging professionals and policymakers.

In his new role, Professor Adenutsi will spearhead the development and implementation of the GITFiC–AfCFTA Educational Strategy under Agenda 2031. The strategy encompasses the Global Debt Initiative and AfCFTA Implementation Support Initiatives, including executive training programmes, policy research initiatives, academic partnerships, and professional development modules.

He will also oversee the implementation of the GITFiC–AfCFTA-designed curriculum currently being delivered in selected tertiary institutions across Africa. His mandate includes ensuring academic rigor across all training platforms and fostering strategic collaboration between academia, industry, and governments to promote knowledge exchange and practical impact.

Under his leadership, GITFiC aims to expand its AfCFTA Executive Education Programme, deepen engagement with regional and international trade and economic bodies, and strengthen its thought leadership in trade facilitation, financial innovation, economic integration, and digital commerce.

GITFiC remains dedicated to advancing policy dialogue, trade facilitation, and financial innovation through research, collaboration, and strategic partnerships. The appointment of Professor Deodat E. Adenutsi signals a renewed commitment to excellence, capacity development, and sustainable economic growth, anchored in GITFiC’s successful AfCFTA Implementation Support Initiatives over the past seven years.
