The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly (AWMA) has successfully held a comprehensive capacity-building workshop for beneficiaries of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in the municipality, reaffirming its commitment to youth empowerment and skills development.
The training programme, which took place at the Assembly’s premises, attracted hundreds of young beneficiaries engaged under various YEA modules. The initiative was designed to strengthen their professional competencies, improve workplace performance, and prepare them for long-term career advancement beyond the temporary employment scheme.

Addressing participants at the opening session, the District Director of the YEA, Mr. Theophilus Kodzo Bedzrah, underscored the critical role of continuous learning in today’s dynamic and highly competitive job environment. He reminded the beneficiaries that although the YEA offers a platform for employment, it also presents an opportunity for personal growth and career development.
According to him, the workshop was not merely a routine exercise but a strategic intervention aimed at equipping participants with practical and relevant skills. He encouraged them to embrace the training wholeheartedly, noting that competencies such as effective communication, customer service, financial management, and entrepreneurship are essential tools for future success.

Throughout the workshop, facilitators engaged participants in interactive sessions covering workplace ethics, time management, leadership skills, digital literacy, and teamwork. Practical exercises in report writing and problem-solving were also introduced to enhance their efficiency and productivity in their respective roles.

Officials of the Assembly reiterated that the programme aligns with broader national objectives of tackling youth unemployment and promoting economic growth. They stressed that empowering young people with both technical knowledge and soft skills is vital for building a resilient workforce capable of contributing meaningfully to national development.

Representatives from the YEA praised the Assembly for the initiative, describing it as both timely and impactful. They urged beneficiaries to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to improve service delivery and maximize the benefits of their engagement under the programme.
YEA Beneficiaries, on their part, expressed gratitude to the Assembly for the opportunity. Many indicated that the training had expanded their understanding of workplace standards and boosted their confidence to perform their duties effectively.

The Assembly concluded the event by assuring beneficiaries of its continuous support, with plans underway to roll out additional training sessions and mentorship initiatives. Through sustained investment in human capital development, the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly aims to nurture a skilled, confident, and self-reliant youth population poised to drive socio-economic progress within the municipality and beyond.
