The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi, Faustilove Appiah-Kannin, has called on Muslim youth to remain vigilant and prioritize their safety during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
Delivering her message as Muslims marked the end of Ramadan, the MCE urged young people not to allow the excitement of the festivities to compromise their personal security. She advised them to be mindful of their surroundings and cautious in their interactions.
She also encouraged the youth to use the occasion to strengthen their faith and draw closer to Allah, emphasizing that Eid is not only a time for celebration but also for reflection on divine blessings.

“The world is becoming increasingly unsafe, so you must be careful. Do not leave your food or drinks unattended, even among friends,” she cautioned.
Call for Prayers and National Support
During her engagements, the MCE highlighted efforts by the government to stabilize the economy over the past year. She conveyed goodwill from the President to the Muslim community and appealed for continuous prayers for national leadership, seeking Allah’s guidance for the country’s development.

She further commended Islamic leaders in Obuasi for their ongoing support and counsel to the Municipal Assembly.
Appeal for Expanded Hajj Opportunities
At one of the prayer grounds, an Islamic cleric called on the government to expand access to the Hajj pilgrimage and make it more affordable. He noted that increasing the number of available slots would allow more Muslims to fulfill the religious obligation.
Visits to Prayer Centres
As part of her Eid activities, Hon. Appiah-Kannin and her team visited key prayer centres across Obuasi, including Shangala Park, OSC Cricket Park, Black Park, and AGA School Park. At each location, donations were made, and prayers were offered for the municipality, the government, and the nation.

Leaders of the various Islamic communities expressed appreciation for the gesture and pledged continued support for the development of the municipality.
Support During Ramadan
Earlier in the week, the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, led by the MCE, donated assorted food items to support Muslim communities during Ramadan. The items, including rice and other provisions, were meant to assist with the breaking of the fast.

Receiving the donation, community leaders expressed gratitude to the Assembly and offered prayers for the government and the people of Ghana.
The initiative forms part of the Assembly’s broader efforts to promote religious harmony, community support, and inclusive governance within the Obuasi Municipality.
