Ga East MCE, Hon. Edmund Agboh Calls for People-Centered Development at Constituency Address

The Ga East Municipal Chief Executive, Edmund Agboh, has underscored the importance of people-focused governance, stating that aligning policies with the needs of citizens is key to driving economic growth and sustainable development.

Speaking at the State of Constituency Address (SOCA), Hon. Agboh emphasized that well-crafted policies, grounded in the realities of the people, have the potential to reposition Ghana’s economy onto a path of prosperity. He noted that recent developments within the constituency reflect a renewed sense of direction, marked by improved peace, closer engagement between leaders and residents, and visible developmental progress.

According to the MCE, the event itself symbolized a new chapter in local governance—one that prioritizes transparency, accountability, and direct interaction with constituents. He highlighted that the initiative has brought about a stronger connection between leadership and the people, fostering trust and collaboration in addressing the area’s challenges.

Citing Article One of 1992 Constitution of Ghana, Hon. Agboh reiterated that sovereignty resides in the people, stressing that elected representatives must always design development agendas based on the genuine needs and concerns of those they serve.

He observed that the political landscape in Ghana is evolving, with citizens increasingly rejecting leaders who disappear after elections only to return during campaign seasons. He noted that such an era of neglect, poor governance, and underdevelopment is gradually becoming a thing of the past, as voters now demand consistent engagement and results-driven leadership.

Hon. Agboh also commended the Member of Parliament for the constituency for introducing what he described as a groundbreaking “State of the Constituency Address.” Inspired by the national State of the Nation Address, he said the initiative provides a platform for assessing the MP’s stewardship and performance over the past year.

Describing the event as historic, the MCE indicated that it is the first of its kind not only in the constituency but potentially across the country. He urged stakeholders, community members, and residents to support the MP and local authorities in advancing the constituency’s development agenda.

He concluded by calling for unity and collective effort in building a stronger municipality, invoking blessings for Ghana, the constituency, and its leadership to continue working towards progress and prosperity.
