Lawyer for Chairman Wontumi, Andy Appiah-Kubi, has provided an update on ongoing court proceedings involving his client, revealing that the prosecution’s third witness, a police investigator, completed his examination-in-chief in court.
Speaking to the media after proceedings, Mr. Appiah-Kubi explained that the defence team cross-examined the witness and focused on key issues surrounding the investigation and statements obtained during the process.

According to him, one of the major questions raised during cross-examination was whether the caution statement given by one of the accused persons was made voluntarily. He noted that the investigator confirmed in court that the statement was indeed given voluntarily.
He further disclosed that evidence presented before the court confirmed that the same individual, who initially appeared as an accused person, later became the prosecution’s first witness and provided both the investigative caution statement and charge statement.

Mr. Appiah-Kubi stated that proceedings for the day ended after the witness completed his testimony and the defence concluded part of its cross-examination.
The case has subsequently been adjourned to June 8 for further cross-examination and continuation of proceedings.
He also thanked members of the media and the public for following the case closely and remaining present throughout the hearing.
