The rehabilitation of the Atimpoku–Asikuma Junction Road (Lot 2), covering a stretch from kilometre 17.5 to 26.0, has reached 40.80 percent completion and is progressing ahead of schedule.
The project, which commenced in December 2025, is expected to be completed by December 2026 as part of the government’s Big Push Infrastructure Programme aimed at improving road connectivity across the country.
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Agbodza, inspected ongoing works on the road during his working tour of the Volta, Oti, and Eastern Regions.
Following the inspection, the Minister praised the contractor, DWAWILL Ltd, for its commitment, professionalism, and the quality of work being delivered.
Hon. Agbodza said the Big Push initiative is focused on supporting Ghanaian contractors to play a leading role in national development by constructing durable roads that will benefit present and future generations.
Work completed so far includes site clearance, general excavation, removal of unsuitable materials, and embankment construction.
The contractor is currently undertaking cut-and-fill activities to formation level, subbase pavement works, drainage construction, and culvert installations.
The progress of the project is expected to enhance transportation links, improve travel time, and boost economic activities along the Atimpoku–Asikuma corridor when completed.
