AMANSIE CENTRAL DISTRICT, GHANA — Healthcare access in Amansie Central District has received a major boost following the official commissioning of an ultra-modern Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHIPS) compound at Odokro-Fenaso No.3.
The newly inaugurated facility is designed to bridge the healthcare gap for vulnerable populations, particularly pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children who previously had to travel long distances to access medical care.
The fully furnished health center is equipped with modern medical infrastructure to deliver comprehensive primary care, including,
Clinical Spaces, Male and female wards, consulting rooms, and a dedicated records department.Maternal & Child Health: Antenatal Care (ANC) unit, a fully equipped labour ward, and delivery beds with accessories. A comfortable waiting room, patient beds, wheelchairs, modern washrooms, office furniture, and fully furnished nurses’ quarters to ensure round-the-clock staffing.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Chief of Odokro-Fenaso No.3, Nana Amoabeng Kotoko, lauded the government and local authorities for prioritizing rural infrastructure. He noted that the facility will directly address critical health challenges facing the community, especially maternal and child health.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie Central, Hon. Emmanuel Obeng-Agyemang, emphasized that the project aligns with the national vision to expand access to primary healthcare through strategic infrastructure development.
”The Fenaso No.3 CHIP Compound stands as a living testimony to this national agenda of bringing healthcare closer to the people and ensuring that health is not a privilege, but a right,” Hon. Obeng-Agyemang stated.
District Director of Health, Mr. Oppong Apramtwum Ahmed, welcomed the development, noting that it brings immense relief to residents, particularly in managing prevalent local health concerns, such as malaria, and spares pregnant women from perilous journeys to neighboring towns.
Authorities have confirmed that qualified health personnel have already been deployed to the facility.
Presiding Member Hon. Isaac Osei Duah urged health professionals stationed at the center to maintain high standards of professionalism and patient care.
Residents were likewise encouraged to take ownership of the facility, embrace early healthcare-seeking behaviors, and utilize preventive health services to foster long-term community wellness.
