Akrofuom District Assembly holds First Ordinary Meeting to discuss key development issues across the district

The Akrofuom District Assembly on Thursday, May 7, 2026, held its First Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Third Assembly to deliberate on key developmental issues affecting the district.

The meeting brought together Assembly Members, Heads of Departments, and Units of the Assembly to discuss matters relating to health, education, sanitation, agriculture, roads, electrification, and the local economy.

A major highlight of the meeting was a presentation by representatives of Asante Gold Mine Kubi regarding the company’s operations and engagement with the people of Kubi.

The Community Relations Officer of Asante Gold Mine, Mr. Lawrence Asante, assured members that the company is engaging all relevant stakeholders to ensure that individuals whose livelihoods may be affected by the company’s activities are adequately compensated.

Assembly Members commended the efforts of the mining company within the community but appealed for the inclusion of a representative from the Assembly on the committee overseeing discussions and assessments to ensure neutrality and transparency.

The meeting was adjourned to Monday, May 11, 2026, where the District Chief Executive is expected to deliver his sessional address and present the Executive Committee report for discussion by members. The Public Relations and Complaints Committee (PRCC) is also expected to present its report.

The session was chaired by the Presiding Member for Akrofuom East, Hon. Edward Peprah, and attended by the District Chief Executive, Hon. Gariba Mohammad, the District Coordinating Director, Mr. David Dokli, as well as Heads of Departments and Units of the Assembly.
