Atwima Nwabiagya South MP Urges BECE Candidates to Avoid Social Media, Focus on Studies

The Member of Parliament for Atwima Nwabiagya South, Hon. Shirley Kyei Tiwaa, has called on Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in her constituency to steer clear of social media and unnecessary errands as they prepare for their final exams.

Her appeal came during the distribution of 3,357 mathematical sets to candidates across the constituency, an initiative aimed at supporting students ahead of the examination.

Hon. Kyei Tiwaa emphasized the importance of discipline and concentration during this crucial academic period, urging students to make effective use of their time and the materials provided to them. She also appealed to parents and guardians to create a conducive environment at home by reducing household chores and minimizing distractions.

“The period before BECE is critical. Let’s give our children the space and peace to study,” she stated.

The Municipal Education Director for Atwima Nwabiagya South, Nana Pokua Amoako, also addressed the candidates, cautioning them against engaging in examination malpractice. She issued a stern warning to both students and educators, stressing that any individual found guilty of such acts would face the full force of the law.

She further cautioned invigilators and teachers against collecting money from candidates under the guise of providing leaked examination questions, describing the practice as illegal and unethical. Nana Pokua Amoako encouraged students to rely on their own preparation and remain confident in their abilities.

Beneficiary students expressed deep appreciation to the MP for the timely support, noting that the mathematical sets would significantly aid their preparation.

“We are very grateful for the support. It will help us a lot, and we promise to make her proud,” one student said.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to improve educational outcomes in the constituency and motivate candidates to excel in the upcoming BECE.
