Power is transient — Justin Frimpong Koduah cautions.

Justin Frimpong Koduah, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has condemned what he describes as attempts by the NDC government to intimidate and silence members and supporters of the NPP through arrests and court prosecutions.

Addressing the media after visiting the Accra Circuit Court, Mr. Koduah revealed that the party had earlier planned to submit a petition to the Chief Justice. According to him, the NPP had formally informed the Chief Justice’s office of their intention to present the petition, but upon arrival, they were informed that the office could not receive them today and would instead provide another date, expected to be Tuesday.

Mr. Koduah explained that while at the court premises, the party received information that one of its social media communicators had been arraigned before the court on two charges, prompting party officials and legal representatives to quickly move to support the individual.

He accused the government of using arrests and court processes to suppress opposition voices but insisted that such actions would not weaken the resolve of the NPP faithful.

“The attempts by the NDC government to gag members and supporters of the New Patriotic Party will not work. If they think arresting and arraigning our members before court will silence us, then they are mistaken,” he stated.

He added that since the alleged intimidation began in January 2025, it has rather strengthened and re-energized the party’s grassroots supporters.

Mr. Koduah further warned that political power is temporary and urged civil society, the media, and the public not to normalize what he described as selective intimidation and political persecution.

He assured NPP supporters that the party would continue to stand firmly behind its members whenever they are invited or brought before the courts.

“We are not a party of cowards. We are a party of bold people. As our forefathers fought against oppression, so shall this generation continue the fight. The elephant lives on and shall continue to live on,” he declared.
