The Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Hon. Julius Debrah, has reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to strengthening partnerships that improve the lives of vulnerable children across Ghana.
Delivering remarks on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama at the official launch of World Vision Ghana’s 2026–2030 Country Strategy in Accra, Mr. Debrah conveyed the President’s warm greetings and goodwill to stakeholders. He assured development partners, civil society actors, and beneficiaries that government remains fully committed to supporting initiatives that promote child welfare and sustainable community development.

Hon. Debrah described the event as both a privilege and a significant milestone, commending World Vision Ghana for its nearly five decades of dedicated service to the nation. He noted that the organization has consistently played a critical role in advancing child protection, improving access to education and healthcare, and enhancing the socio-economic wellbeing of families across the country.

Highlighting the organization’s achievements, he pointed to its impactful interventions in the provision of safe drinking water, improved sanitation and hygiene, child health and nutrition programmes, quality basic education, and skills development initiatives. He further acknowledged World Vision Ghana’s efforts in livelihood empowerment and child protection systems, which have contributed to transforming countless communities and safeguarding the future of children.
“As the largest non-governmental organization in the country, World Vision Ghana’s footprint in national development is both visible and well documented,” Hon. Debrah stated. He added that many communities across Ghana have directly benefited from the organization’s interventions, with lasting improvements in living standards and opportunities for children.

Touching on the newly launched five-year strategy, titled “Hope for Every Child: Harnessing Opportunities for the Protection and Empowerment of Every Child,” the Chief of Staff explained that it aims to positively impact the lives of approximately 2.8 million children, particularly those in vulnerable situations, by the year 2030. He described the strategy as ambitious yet achievable, given the organization’s track record and strong partnerships.
Hon. Julius Debrah further welcomed the alignment of the strategy with Ghana’s national development agenda, emphasizing its consistency with broader policy frameworks focused on inclusive growth, social protection, and human capital development. He also noted its coherence with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which seek to address global challenges including poverty, inequality, and access to essential services.

The Chief of Staff underscored the importance of collaboration, stating that government alone cannot address the complex challenges facing vulnerable populations. He reiterated government’s readiness to work closely with development partners, non-governmental organizations, and civil society groups to create an enabling environment for impactful and sustainable interventions.
Addressing the current global context, Mr. Debrah acknowledged the increasing challenges within the humanitarian and development space, particularly the decline in funding for charitable organizations. He stressed the need for innovative financing approaches, including blended financing models, stronger donor engagement strategies, and efficient resource management to ensure long-term sustainability and expanded reach.

He assured stakeholders that the government remains committed to maintaining an open-door policy, fostering dialogue, and supporting initiatives that contribute to national development. According to him, strengthening institutional capacity and promoting accountability will be key to achieving shared goals.
In his concluding remarks, Hon. Debrah called on ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as corporate institutions and development partners, to rally behind World Vision Ghana and support the successful implementation of its strategy. He emphasized the importance of collective action in building safe, inclusive, and resilient communities where every child has the opportunity to thrive.

The event ended with a renewed sense of purpose among stakeholders, as participants were urged to harness available opportunities and work together toward creating a brighter and more sustainable future for Ghana’s children.
