Essuowinhene Cuts Sod for Ultra-Modern SHS in Essuowin

The Chief of Essuowin, Nana Akyena Kwagyan Nuama V, has cut the sod for the construction of an ultra-modern Senior High School aimed at expanding access to quality secondary education in the community.

The project is expected to benefit students in the Amansie West District, particularly those who struggle to secure admission into established senior high schools due to limited placement opportunities.

The sod-cutting ceremony, held on Friday, April 17, 2026, brought together traditional authorities, education officials, district leaders, and other stakeholders.

Addressing the gathering, Nana Akyena Kwagyan Nuama V said the initiative is designed to bridge the gap in access to quality education in the area.

“We want to create a school that offers our children the same opportunities as those in well-established institutions,” he stated.

He added that the project complements national efforts to strengthen Ghana’s education sector.

“This is our contribution to national development through education,” he noted.

Chief Commits Resources

In a major show of commitment, the Essuowinhene has donated GH¢500,000, 10,000 concrete blocks, and a 25-acre parcel of land to kickstart the project.

“These are just seed contributions. I will not rest until we see classrooms standing here,” he assured.

He further pledged continuous support from inception to completion, emphasizing the long-term benefits of education to the community.

Call for Broader Support

The chief appealed to government, NGOs, and private individuals to support the initiative, stressing that community efforts alone will not be sufficient.

“We have made a start, but we cannot do it alone. We need collective support to make this a reality,” he appealed.

Project Ready for Takeoff

Chairman of the Steering Committee, Kwame Owusu Nuako, disclosed that all architectural designs and documentation for the project have been completed and approved.

“We are fully prepared to begin construction. Everything is in place,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude to contributors, including miners, traditional leaders, government representatives, and community members.

“We appreciate everyone who has supported us so far and urge others to join this important cause,” he added.

The project is expected to significantly enhance educational infrastructure in Essuowin and improve opportunities for future generations.
