The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has called on Members of Parliament to actively participate in the National General Cleaning Days scheduled for July 10 and 11, 2026, across flood-affected regions.
Addressing the House, the Speaker said Parliament fully supports the initiative announced by President John Dramani Mahama as part of efforts to respond to the impact of recent floods across the country.
He urged MPs, particularly those from affected communities, to take the lead in organising clean-up exercises within their constituencies while working closely with local authorities, community groups and residents to ensure a successful exercise.
Rt. Hon. Bagbin further revealed that Parliament’s leadership would consider measures to enable MPs from affected areas to return to their constituencies and spearhead the clean-up activities.
He emphasised that Parliament remains committed to supporting initiatives aimed at improving environmental sanitation, safeguarding lives and building Ghana’s preparedness and resilience against future disasters.
