The legal team representing Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has officially concluded the presentation of its defence before the court, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing legal proceedings involving the former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Addressing members of the media after the court session, lead counsel Lawyer Andy Appiah-Kubi confirmed that the defence had called its final witness and successfully completed the submission of all evidence intended to support Chairman Wontumi’s case against the charges brought before the court.
According to Lawyer Appiah-Kubi, the defence team is satisfied with the evidence presented throughout the trial and remains confident that the facts and testimonies submitted have adequately addressed the allegations levelled against their client. He noted that the legal team had taken the necessary steps to ensure that every relevant piece of evidence was placed before the court for consideration.

“The defence has finished submitting its evidence in support of Chairman Wontumi. Today, we called our last witness, and we believe the evidence presented clearly speaks to the issues before the court,” Lawyer Appiah-Kubi stated.
He further explained that the court process has proceeded smoothly and in accordance with established legal procedures, emphasizing that the defence has been given a fair opportunity to present its case. He assured supporters of Chairman Wontumi and the general public that the legal team remains focused and committed to protecting the interests of their client throughout the remainder of the proceedings.

Lawyer Appiah-Kubi also expressed optimism about the outcome of the case, stressing that the defence is confident the court will carefully evaluate the evidence and testimonies presented by both sides before arriving at a final determination.

The conclusion of the defence case now paves the way for the next stage of the trial, during which the court is expected to review and assess the submissions made by both the prosecution and the defence. Legal observers will be closely monitoring developments as the matter progresses toward a ruling.

The case continues to attract significant public interest, with supporters and political observers awaiting the court’s final decision. Meanwhile, Chairman Wontumi’s legal team has reiterated its confidence in the judicial process and expressed hope that justice will ultimately prevail.
